Muscle Factory Pattaya: A Raw Old-School Gym That Divides Opinion

Pattaya, Thailand

Pattaya is only a couple of hours south of Bangkok.
Known for its nightlife more than anything else, it’s probably not somewhere we’d rush back to for a holiday. If you’re looking for beaches, I’d honestly head a little further to Koh Samet instead. But Pattaya does have one thing that caught my attention.
After reviewing the original Muscle Factory in Bangkok, I had to check out its second location to see if it lived up to the reputation.
Muscle Factory Pattaya
Address: Phra Tamnak, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
📍 Google Maps: Muscle Factory Pattaya
First Impressions: Familiar… Very Familiar
If you’ve trained at Muscle Factory Bangkok, you’ll immediately recognise the DNA.
It’s raw, it’s real and it’s unapologetically hardcore.
So this felt very familiar.

The Space
This isn’t a polished commercial gym. It’s an old-school warehouse packed with equipment, large bodybuilding posters hanging from the walls and enough iron to keep a dedicated lifter happy. Dumbbells run almost the full length of one wall, while squat racks, power racks and lifting platforms occupy almost one full side and upstairs, there’s a mezzanine level dedicated to cardio equipment. Muscle Factory Pattaya isn’t trying to impress you with fancy finishes or designer lighting, it was built for people who want to train.
Equipment: Quantity Over Quality
There is no shortage of equipment here.
Squat racks, power racks, deadlift platforms, benches, dumbbells, truck tyres, sleds, jumping boxes… whatever style of training you’re into, you’ll probably find what you need.
If you’re looking for an old-school strength gym where you can load up a barbell, grab some heavy dumbbells and get stuck into a hard workout, this is definitely your place.
The issue isn’t the amount of equipment. It’s the condition of it.
Many of the machines are showing their age. Some are rusty, some need maintenance and a few have noticeable dead zones where the resistance almost disappears through part of the movement. One thing I noticed throughout my workout was the biomechanical mismatch on many of the older machines. Modern equipment has come a long way, and many newer machines provide a much smoother resistance profile and better mind-muscle connection. Here, I found myself constantly adjusting my position to get the movement to feel right.
Personally, I’d rather have fewer machines that perform really well than hundreds that don’t.
That said, if your training revolves around barbells, benches, squat racks and free weights, you’ll probably love this place.
What It Felt Like to Train Here
It was always going to be hot. There is no air conditioning—just huge industrial roof fans doing their best to move the hot air around.
I trained at around 2:00 PM and the gym was fairly quiet.
Because of that, the atmosphere wasn’t quite as intense as the Bangkok location, but it still had that Muscle Factory feel.
There was a time when Muscle Factory was probably considered one of the best gyms in Thailand. I can understand why. But I also think it’s starting to show its age.
The equipment needs some love and a bit of investment if it wants to stay at the top.
That said… I still had a great workout.
I sweated my arse off and left feeling like I’d trained properly.
Communication
The staff spoke English, and checking in for a day pass was easy.
Once you’re registered, facial recognition gives you access to the gym floor.
Pricing

When I visited, a day pass cost 350 THB.
Personally, I think that’s expensive for what you’re getting.
If you’re planning on training multiple days, one of the longer memberships would offer much better value.
Food and Protein Options
Like the Bangkok location, there are protein shakes, drinks and meals available at the gym cafe. And they are pretty tasty!
Pros
Huge variety of equipment
Plenty of squat racks, power racks and deadlift platforms
Great for different styles of strength training
Serious old-school bodybuilding atmosphere
Protein meals and shakes available
Friendly staff
Cons
Expensive day pass
No air conditioning - very hot!
Equipment is ageing
Some machines need maintenance
Some machines have poor biomechanics compared with newer equipment
Dead spots through the movement on some machines
No showers
No cleaning equipment available during my visit
Muscle Factory Gym Rules

Bring your own towel, wipe equipment after use where possible and respect the gym and other members.
My Final Thoughts
Muscle Factory Pattaya isn’t for everyone.
It’s expensive, the machines are showing their age and training without air conditioning isn’t for everyone. But it’s still one of those gyms every serious lifter should probably experience at least once. You’ll definitely get a good workout.
Whether I’d choose it as my regular gym is another question.
There are now newer gyms in Pattaya that offer better equipment, air conditioning and better value for money. I also trained at Sun Fitness Pattaya, and if you’re trying to decide between the two, I’d recommend reading that review as well.
There is some serious competition in town now.
