First Impressions
The Tank Gym Hua Hin is an open-air, warehouse-style gym that immediately feels raw and old school. There’s no air-conditioning, no frills, and no pretending to be something it’s not. This is a gym built for training, not comfort. At just 80 THB for a day pass, it’s great value. There’s a drinks fridge, protein smoothie bar, and even a coffee bar, which adds to the relaxed, community-driven feel. The space relies heavily on airflow rather than cooling. There are wall fans, though they don’t work, and one large commercial fan that pushes warm air around the gym. That fan only runs during set hours (8am to 1pm, 3pm to 4pm, and 5pm to 9pm) and when it’s turned off, you feel the heat almost instantly. Even with the fan running, you’ll be sweating within minutes of starting your workout.
The Space
The gym is split across two levels. Downstairs is the main training area, while upstairs provides space for stretching and spin bikes.
It’s a tall warehouse with plenty of open floor space, which works well for free-weight training and old-school lifting. The sound of metal plates clinking fills the room, adding to the hardcore atmosphere. While the space itself works well, it’s important to note that some machines are broken or unusable. A few handles and attachments are missing, some pins are absent, and certain machines aren’t secured to the floor. You’ll want to check equipment carefully before loading it up to avoid injury.
Facilities and Equipment
Facilities are basic but functional. Toilets are available, the gym is clean, and cleaning equipment is provided. The equipment is a mix of old and new. Some machines are solid and usable, while others feel clunky or incomplete. This gym really suits lifters who are comfortable training more traditionally with barbells and dumbbells rather than relying heavily on machines. The price-to-performance ratio is fair, especially considering the low day pass price.

My Workout Experience
It was leg day for me again - why does leg day come around so quickly? I started on the leg press. Despite its age, it was effective, and the hack squat performed similarly. Romanian deadlifts in the squat rack worked well. The leg curl and leg extension machines were a little awkward, with uncomfortable angles. The abduction machine was disappointing, offering uneven tension and limited range of motion. We trained just before midday, and within minutes it became a hot, sweaty mess. We finished our workout as the commercial fan was switched off at 1pm, and the temperature rose quickly once the airflow stopped.
Hubby trained chest and triceps old-school style using the heavy metal dumbbells. He found some of the chest and tricep machines clunky, with jerky cables, but still managed a solid workout.
My Gym Review Rating
The Tank Gym Hua Hin is raw, sweaty, imperfect and surprisingly enjoyable. It’s not for everyone, but if you enjoy old-school lifting, open space, and a strong gym community vibe, it delivers solid value.

My Final Word
Strangely enough, out of the four gyms we visited in Hua Hin, The Tank Gym ranked second for me. Yes, it’s sweaty. Yes, some machines are old and imperfect. But I loved the vibe. This is a place where you train old school, rely less on machines, and focus more on free weights and effort. The open space works, the community feel is strong, and the 80 THB day pass makes it an affordable option if you’re in Hua Hin for a few days.
During our visit, I trained at four local gyms, all very different in vibe, location, pricing, air-conditioning, and equipment. These reviews are designed to give you an honest picture of what’s available so you can choose the gym that best suits your training style.
